RJA #2b: Research Topic
The topic that i chose for my research project is about corruption in the media, specifically the news broadcast stations. I have chosen this topic because I have always wondered what the media has not been telling it's audience. Everyday the media censors what they will and will not tell their audience. It is hard to listen to a news story and find out what parts are true and what parts are not true. The media should be truthful about all of its stories. Another reason why is that I plan to receive some sort of degree in broadcasting. I figured I should get to know the line of work that I might be in someday better.
A couple things that i already know about the corruption in the media is that the government can censor anything that they feel is too explicit for the public to see. For example, each major broadcasting network is own by a major corporation. Most of the corporation have special interests. They will manipulate the networks to express these special interest. Some of these corporations are also involved in right and left wing politics.
Some of the things that i do not know of this topic and will explore are what type of corporations own major broadcasting networks. Also, how much the media has been manipulated over the past 50 to 60 years? Another question i will explore is what does the public not see in the media? Finally, which political parties use the media to their full advantage.
